2007 OFFICER ELECTIONS►
Candidate Bios
Don
E. Peavy, Sr., Ph.D.
Candidate for President
In the past two years we have accomplished much as a newly formed
union, including bargaining our first contract with the District. I am
very proud of the accomplishments and professionalism of our Local. As
your President, I have worked very hard to improve the working
conditions and peer relationships on campus. Great strides have been
made in these areas. Besides being involved in the local affairs of
our union, I am also involved at the state and national levels. I am a
member of the Policies and Practices Committee in Higher Education at
AFT, a newly elected Vice President of the California Federation of
Teachers (CFT), and serve on the CFT Educational Issues Committee.
I urge you to make a very special effort to vote
in this election. And when you vote, I ask you to vote for me as your
president. Together, we can continue to move forward, developing a
stronger union and continuing to work towards parity with other
part-time faculty around the state and with our full-time faculty at
VVC. I look forward to serving as your President for another two
years.
Neal
Kelsey
Candidate for Treasurer
I am running for the office of Treasurer of AFT Part-Time Faculty
United, Local 6286, for another two-year term because I believe that
there is much work that needs to be done and that I am qualified to
continue to serve as the Treasurer. I am a charter member of the Union
and have been active in the Local since its inception. I have attended
training workshops at the Union Leadership Conference and state and
national meetings. I served as a delegate to the AFT National
Convention and the CFT State Convention. I am also a delegate to the
San Bernardino/Riverside Counties Central Labor Council. I am also on
the CFT Part-Time Community College Faculty Committee. Finally, I
served on the negotiating team, which bargained our first contract
with the District. In closing, I believe that I have the necessary
knowledge, skills, and desire to fulfill the duties of the office of
Treasurer with competence and integrity. I urge you to cast your vote
for me. I promise to diligently work on your behalf as the Union’s
primary fiduciary officer.

Candidate for Member-at-Large
Kevin Crowley
Candidate for Member-at-Large
My Name is J Kevin Crowley. I am a full-time classified employee
at Victor Valley College as well as part-time faculty (for 10
years) and I am proud of the accomplishments that have been made
by both our Part-Time Faculty and the Union representatives. The
hard work exhibited by the leadership of Local 6286 has certainly
benefited me. I feel that we still need to defend our rights and
be treated with equality with other constituency groups on
campus. I assure you that I can and will represent you with
honesty and integrity. This is my opportunity to give back. If I
am elected to serve as a member-at-large, I will serve you well.
