The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is the nation's pre-eminent higher education union. Unit means strength to the AFT. Under its umbrella, full-time and part-time faculty flourish in the dynamic environment of a visionary organization that is the largest higher education union in the nation.

In California, so many community college faculty have turned to AFT that the union now represents a majority of all college faculty in the state. Ranging from the urban centers of San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego to small rural locals north and south, AFT and the California Federation of Teachers (CFT) are powerful advocates for faculty members who are working to improve their profession and their lives.
